Our History
The East Asia & Pacific Regional Council of Cheshire Homes has a rich legacy of empowering people with disabilities across the region. This page shares our journey, key milestones, and the values that continue to inspire us today.
1987s
Immediatedly after its official registration by the Registrar of societies in Singapore on the February 1987, as the “Cheshire Homes Far Eastern Regional Council”, the Management Committee started to organize Annual General Meetings in Region as follows:
1. Inaugural A.G.M Singapore 1987
2. 2nd A.G.M Hong Kong 1988
3. 3rd A.G.M Kobe, Japan 1989
4. 4th A.G.M Chiang Mai, Thailand 1990.
1992s
The Council Members proposed that our Constitution be amended so that the Biennial General Meetings could be held instead.
The amendment was approved in 1992 and thenceforth Biennial General Meeting were held as follows:
1. 1 st B.G.M Penang, Malaysia 1992
2. 2 nd B.G.M Kunming, China 1994
3. 3rd B.G.M Jakarta, Indonesia 1996
4. 4th B.G.M Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia 1998
5. 5th B.G.M Wuhan, China 2000
6. 6th B.G.M Augi, Hyogo, Japan 2002
7. 7th B.G.M Bangkok, Thailand 2004
8. 8th B.G.M Singapore 2006
9. 9th B.G.M Hong Kong 2008.
2009s
The Registrar of society of Singapore approved that the constitution of the “Cheshire Homes Far Eastern Regional Council changed into “Cheshire Homes East Asia & Pacific Regional Council (EAPacRC)” in August 2009
